Have you ever wondered what to do with your spare time to make money?

That single thought gave birth to a new company called Idle Time, the brainchild of student entrepreneur James Matsuba.

As a student at the University of Alberta’s School of Business, James decided to enter his concept into the student category for the 2008 TEC VenturePrize Business Plan Competition. The judges were so impressed with his concept, they awarded him first prize.

James Matsuba describes his business as an internet based matchmaking service between people who need jobs done and those who have the skills and the tim on their hands to do those jobs.

JAMES MATSUBA:
Basically you’ll go to Idle Time.ca and you will either search for service producers if you so choose to or you can post a job depending on how much knowledge you have about your job. And based on the characteristics of that job, the system will automatically notify the individuals whoar available to do that job for you. It’s like an enhanced permission marketing system. So basically people are only notified about jobs they’re qualified for and want to do.

James Matsuba will use the six thousand dollars in prize money to take his business concept to the next level.
