The new Director of Applied Research and Technology at NAIT, the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, is Stuart Cullum.
And along with a new director, the program has a new name – NovaNAIT.
As Stuart Cullum explains, the NovaNAIT concept brings together a number of programs.
There’s a very successful business incubator to help inventors bring their products to market.
There’s applied research with an industry push. And another development is the addition of industry sponsored research chairs.
STUART CULLUM: These are going to be applied research chairs that will focus on specific sectors. The idea is that we have industry sponsors out there, understanding that there are specific areas of research that they would like addressed. They have approached NAIT to help them do that. And so we will be facilitiating that research through bringing on world class researchers. We’re just renovating our St. Albert campus, so NovaNAIT will have a location there as well. Those researchers will have their own lab to carry out their research. So that’s really exciting.
Stuart Cullum says NovaNAIT has already partnered with industry to develop boreal reclamation technology for the energy and forestry sectors.
