Innovation Anthology #697:
On a recent trip through the Maritimes, I met climate scientist Dr. Adam Fenech.
Adam’s work with the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change dates back to the 1980’s. He worked with Environment Canada for over 20 years.
Now, he holds two positions at the University of Prince Edward Island – as Director of the Climate Research Lab and as an Assistant Professor in the School of Business.
DR ADAM FENECH: For the last year, I’ve been a faculty member in the School of Business. I think that’s clear recognition that the issue of climate change, even though I’ve been involved in it for almost thirty years now, is finally mainstreaming. And there are a lot of businesses trying to deal with the risks from climate change. Not just the physical risks, but the regulatory risks, the legal risks, the insurance risks. There are many risks associated with climate change. And businesses are seeing that they are on the leading edge of informing their shareholders if they can talk specifically about the risks from climate change.
According to Dr. Adam Fenech, Prince Edward Island is already experiencing coastal erosion from rising sea levels.
