Innovation Anthology #719:
Have you found a way to turn waste carbon dioxide into a valuable commodity?
Then you’ll be interested in Round Two of the CCEMC’s Grand Challenge.
According to Kirk Andries, the prize is $3 million dollars if you can demonstrate your technology reduces CO2 emissions by a net one tonne a year, and that you can make a viable business from this CO2 conversion.
Kirk Andries is Managing Director of the Climate Change and Emissions Management Corporation.
KIRK ANDRIES: The design of the program is to accelerate the commercialization of the technology. So Stage One was around the idea. Stage Two is kicking it up a notch. Because if you want this to be sustainable in Alberta, it has to stand on its own feet. It has to generate cash flow and have a market and have clients that are going to value this product. So Stage Two is the transition. It’s the marrying technology and business that would come together that would allow us to pick the top five. And then you can appreciate the top five will compete against each other for the Grand Prize.
The Round Two deadline is January 18th.
