#809: THECIS: Dr. Joe Doucet and Alberta 2.0
Certainly economic diversification is a hot topic in Alberta since the dramatic fall in oil prices.
Alberta 2.0 is one way of framing the discussion. That’s an initiative spearheaded by Dr. Joseph Doucet, Dean of the University of Alberta’s School of Business
DR JOSEPH DOUCET: I certainly agree that we get lulled into a sense of complacency when commodity prices are high and that means that the Alberta economy is functioning very well. But having said that, I do think that we here in Alberta need to think not about the after petroleum world, but how we want to move through the transition over the next 20, 30, 40 years as a new petroleum reality comes upon us and we how we want to be just a little bit more strategic in terms of how we invest, how we train our young people, how we work at collaboration between government and the private sector and post-secondaries.
Dr Joseph Doucet will speak about how to build a more resilient and dynamic Alberta economy at a breakfast hosted by THECIS, The Centre for Innovation Studies on September 27.
